The Center for the Advancement of Process Technology (CAPT) has created two virtual processing units that contain interactive student activities. One of these activities is geared toward college-level students, while the other is focused more on middle-school students. The following is a more detailed description of each of these units.
TARGET AUDIENCE: College-level process technology students

DESCRIPTION: The Virtual Timtene Unit is a “virtual” process unit that produces a fictitious product, Timtene. It has been designed to introduce Process Technology students to fundamental concepts used in the chemical process industry.
The Virtual Timtene website allows both students and instructors to set up accounts and interact with the activities imbedded in the Virtual Timtene Unit. Students progress through each activity is tracked allowing instructors to gauge student performance. An instructor’s guide is available for download. In addition, the website allows general access to the activities for those who do not have an account.

RELEASE DATE: 2005
DESCRIPTION: The Virtual Chemical Plant is a fictitious process unit that contains interactive activities in math and science for middle school students. Teachers and students may use these activities to enrich essential elements addressed in their curriculum.
This website allows fifth through eighth students and teachers to set up accounts and interact with the activities embedded in the Virtual Chemical Plant. Students may receive a computer generated certificate when all activities are successfully completed.
