The Center for the Advancement of Process Technology (CAPT) currently offers several web-based courses designed to teach students the core process technology curriculum through an interactive, web-based environment.

TITLE: Introduction to Process Technology
NUMBER OF MODULES: 24 (hosted through WebCT)
RELEASE DATE: 1999
DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to provide an overview or introduction into the field of Process Operations within the process industry. Within this program, students will be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of process technicians, the environment in which they work, and the equipment and systems in which they operate.

TITLE: Safety, Health and Environment
NUMBER OF MODULES: 32 (hosted through WebCT)
RELEASE DATE: 1999
DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to provide an overview or introduction into the field of Safety, Health & Environment within the process industry. Within this course, you will be introduced to various types of plant hazards, safety and environmental systems and equipment, and regulations under which plants are governed.

TITLE: Quality
NUMBER OF MODULES: 14 (hosted through WebCT)
RELEASE DATE: 2000
DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of or introduction to the field of Quality within the process industry. Within this course students will be introduced to many process industry-related quality concepts including operating consistency, continuous improvement, plant economics, team skills and statistical process control (SPC).

TITLE: Process Technology I: Equipment
NUMBER OF MODULES: 20 (hosted through WebCT)
RELEASE DATE: 2000
DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of equipment used in the process industry. Within this course, students will be introduced to many process industry-related equipment concepts including purpose, components, operation, and the process technician’s role for operating and troubleshooting the equipment.

TITLE: Process Technology II: Systems
NUMBER OF MODULES: 30 (hosted through WebCT)
RELEASE DATE: 2001
DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to study the interrelation of process equipment and process systems. Specifically, students will be able to arrange process equipment into basic systems; describe the purpose and function of specific process systems; explain how factors affecting process systems are controlled under normal conditions; and recognize abnormal process conditions. In addition, students are also introduced to the concept of system and plant economics.

TITLE: Instrumentation
NUMBER OF MODULES: 13 (hosted through WebCT)
RELEASE DATE: 2002
DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this course is to study the interrelation of instrumentation used in the petrochemical and refining industries. Specifically, students will be able to identify instrumentation loops and explain how industrial processes are controlled by instruments and loops.
