A variety of resources are available to you from many groups. Several of these resources have been funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF). The descriptions, websites and links below should assist you in acquiring any of the materials you may need to enhance your PTEC™ program.

Alliances - Building Foundations for Excellence
A video highlighting the process and benefits involved in developing alliances for shared responsibility in sustaining high performance workplaces in Chemical Process Industries. Five brief sections focus on each of the areas needed for a successful alliance: government, industry, education, labor and community.

Opening Doors of Opportunity: Chemical Process Technology Education
A video containing student, industry representatives and instructor interviews regarding certificates, degrees and careers in chemical process industries including paints, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, oil and gasoline, plastics and waste water.

Science in a Technical World
Science in a Technical World (STW) is a tech prep modular program for students in grades 9 thru 12. The 12 STW modules allow students to study and probe into industry-based problems that science technicians face in a typical work day. Each module consists of printed materials for students and teachers, as well as an introductory video and multimedia CD-ROM.

  • Energy and Society - K through 8 curriculum program created in conjunction with Project Learning Tree, a division of the American Forest Foundation.
  • All About Petroleum - An overview of petroleum's contributions to society geared to middle school students who can trace the history of petroleum from formation to the present by using this module.
  • Adventures in Energy - This resource offers an interactive tour with games, activities and narration through the production cycle of oil and natural gas.
  • Energy: The Quick Tour - Students will be presented with situations engaging them in decision making regarding energy options and quality of life issues.
  • Technology Transforming our Industry - Mini-films enabling students to see the beneficial impacts that technology has made on oil exploration, production and environmental protection.

100 Years of Oil and Gas in Louisiana Centennial CD Set
A two-part CD set entitled Oil Spill Awareness through Geoscience Education and Black Gold Beneath the Bayous. The first CD contains comprehensive curriculum for junior and senior high school students teaching concepts of oil spill awareness, ramifications, and physical, chemical and biological clean up methods. The second CD covers oil formation, oil in Louisiana, exploration methods for oil and gas, saving energy, and more.

Get a Life
Get a Life was produced by the 21st Century Urban Technical Education Project, a joint venture of the National Science Foundation, Milawaukee Area Technical College (MATC), the Milwaukee Public Schools and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. This 15-minute video promotes technology/technical courses as a first choice. It is written for students in grades 8 through 12, their parents, teachers and counselors. Get a Life tells stories of real students enrolled at the Lynde and Harry Bradley School of Technology and Trade and Milwaukee Area Technical College with working professionals from a wide variety of technical occupations offering insights.

Pathways to Technology
Pathways to Technology is a multimedia project produced by WGBH Boston partnering with the American Association of Community Colleges and funded by the NSF. The Pathways to Technology website, video series, recruitment toolkit, and outreach initiatives are designed for prospective students, returning students, parents, guidance counselors, and community college educators. The materials provide information to help students explore Advanced Technological Education programs in Biotechnology, Information Technology, Marine Science, Precision Agriculture and Process Technology at community colleges.
