Guidelines for the Use of the PTEC™ Logo and Trademark
The PTEC™ logo is one of the most valuable assets for process technology education nationwide. The logo’s value will increase if it is used properly and consistently in identifying the career, education programs, industry, and terms used in reference to process technology. By providing a uniform symbol wherever visual identification occurs, the PTEC logo will reinforce the public’s perception of the PTEC career as an occupation and a degree path.
The logo and trademark can be used for partner activities that promote the career of process technology in the United States. Use of the PTEC logo constitutes an automatic trademark agreement in good faith between the Center for the Advancement of Process Technology (CAPT) and the external party using the logo or trademark. This agreement is made with the provision that the logo and trademark will not be used for commercial purposes without first obtaining permission from CAPT on a case-by-case basis.
Following the guidelines listed below for the PTEC logo will provide consistency and direction in its use.
Using the PTEC Trademark
When referring in words to the PTEC logo, capitalize the letters PTEC. The first use of PTEC in a document should be followed by the trademark symbol (™) in superscript.
Using the PTEC Logo as a Design Element
The PTEC logo must always be surrounded by free space. In other words, it must be unencumbered and disassociated from all other logos and text. Generally, it should be no smaller than 7/8 inch or 22.2 mm in size. An exception will be permitted if the logo is used as a watermark or semi-opaque background behind text and/or pictures.
The desired colors are red – Pantone® 1795C and blue – Pantone® 280C. The logo can also be reproduced in Pantone® 280C blue and white, black and gray, and black and white.
To maintain its effectiveness, the PTEC logo must remain consistent in color, shape, and typestyle. The graphic design and appearance of the PTEC logo are not to be altered. If another color combination is desired, please obtain prior consent from CAPT.
What Not To Do
- Do not distort, stretch or manipulate the PTEC logo, or use the logo at an angle.
- Do not place the PTEC logo on a visually competitive background or place photography, illustrations, text or graphics across any part of the PTEC logo.
- Do not create a shape around or confine the PTEC logo or place the word “PTEC” in another shape or design element.
- Do not add any words or graphics to the existing PTEC logo, or change the typeface, or use the logo in combination with another graphic element.
- Do not use the PTEC logo in low resolution with jagged edges.
